# Lists

> A pinned set of accounts or people, not a live filter

A list is a specific, hand-picked set of accounts or people. Unlike a [saved
view](/saved-views), a list doesn't re-run a filter every time you open it —
it holds exactly who you put in it, until you take them out.

Use a list when the answer to "who's in this" is a decision you made, not a
rule you'd want re-evaluated: a target list for a campaign, a shortlist for a
call, an account set someone handed you from a spreadsheet.

## Creating a list

Name it, choose whether it holds accounts or people, and add members. Add or
remove members one at a time from a record, or in bulk from the table's
selection toolbar.

## Managing membership

Adding someone already on the list, or removing someone not on it, is a
no-op — safe to retry, safe to run over a selection that partly overlaps
already. Membership is keyed by the account or the person, so it survives
renames on either side.
